A Time For Gratitude

As per usual, it’s been a long time since I’ve tapped away on this ole’ blog. But, in my defense…I have a lot of stuff to sort through! I really shouldn’t be surprised that the steady downward path of my mood had something to do with not taking time out for creativity.

Although decorating the house has been fun, and I’ve worked on a few crochet projects, taking time to glue paper to page has been pretty spare.

Because I only have so much room to store my goodies, adding to the bulk by making more stuff has made me consider art journaling as a luxury. Art journaling is probably not considered a necessity to many, but it is essential to my personal well being. I know this because out of the commitment to downsize, I considered letting it go.

In my defense, this is another art journal re-do, that’s downsizing, right? (I don’t need excuses, I don’t need excuses…)

Here I “gratituded” about having a warm meal. It broke my heart to hear it’s been days since people in Texas have had a warm meal. I know that that is the least of some people’s worries, but that really hit me. I remember having to cook meals on a wood burning stove for a week, because of a winter storm and feeling blessed for a warm house.

This was a “list journal” from several years ago. I’ve joined many list challenges over the years, but they’ve never really worked out for me. If I’m going to leave a boat load of journals for my children to deal with when I’m gone, they might as well see what makes me happy!

This is what most of the pages look like after I’ve pulled off the listings an decor, quite the mess.

The “after”, covering things up with neutral colors.

I’m amazed at how much downsizing I have been able to do over the last few months ( my husband swears I’ve found a basement! 😂)

I found this little clown in my stash, adorable!

One of the things I’ve been working on this month is my Shoppe. This is a photo of my “100 Years of Backgrounds” ephemera packs. I use these all to give my pages a vintage, especially when working on scrapbook paper pages, I love the eclectic blend of old and new.

I still seem to be having a few technical issues in our new old house, but I hope to keep finding workarounds to keep in touch on my lil blog.

I’d love to hear what all of you have been up to lately, please leave a comment and let me know how you’re doing in these crazy times!

Thanks for stopping by,

Much Love,

~Patty

  1. Hi Patty
I really like the memory keeping on pages, rather than simple lists. It was neat to see your refined pages after you tore the lists out, and the vintage ephemera so cute! I liked the recent challenge from Inkie Quill on YouTube, which was to document 3 very trivial things about your day, to remember all the special lil moments. Nice idea. Keep posting and art journaling, we love to see your posts.

  2. I am one of those that think art journaling is ESSENTIAL! If it was a job, I’d insist wee need to keep going to work to do it even in a pandemic! 😉

Keep at it Patty! Keep at it.
