“By the Sea” Page Spread Process

As part of my effort to downsize some of my art journaling supplies I have been pushing through and getting ephemera packs into my shoppe. I tend to have a few bits and bobs left over, so I thought it would be fun use some of them up in this olde junk journal.

Truth be told, all of my art journals are on the olde side now. This is the first page spread I’ve done in a few months, and I thought it would be fun to share a bit of my page layering process.

Paint scrapings of course, but printables on clear label paper is becoming a fave. I found a bunch of neutral colored options on Etsy. (I would share some Etsy links, but there are so many, I think you’ll have more fun searching on your own.) I tried to be strategic with the paint scraping because the photo at the upper left is of some sailors from the 40’s climbing up a coconut tree in the Philippines, how cool is that!

Next is the larger pieces: Map, wave image, horseshoe crab, and scrapbook paper. Strange choices, but I’m liking the color balance.

Medium type ephemera pieces, if you look closely you can see some ‘rub ons’. How long has been since you’ve seen any of those? I couldn’t believe they still worked. It took some doing between texts, questions from my everlovin’, a timer, and my dogs nemesis, the mailman…did he really need to knock!…but I digress…

Many of the images I have left over are from vintage nature books. Easily available at thrift stores, and among my favorite to work with, especially birds. I love how rub ons blend the elements, I wonder if they still sell them.

A close up of one of my favorite postage stamps and the sailors up the tree. You can see that I’m still using pencil to highlight around the images and layers.

This sweet little bird has been floating around my art room for years. so long that I don’t remember if I’m the one who colored it in or if I found it that way, found a home at last.

Here is a sample of some of the “By the Sea” ephemera packs in my shoppe, hit this link to see more and use the coupon code CUSTOMERLOVE20 to get 20% off your purchase. And as always, orders for $35 or more get free shipping within the continental U.S.

You will probably see lots of newness if you visit my shoppe, I’m going to have to play catch-up on page spreads and announcements, so look for that soon…I hope 🙂

Until then,

Thanks for stopping by,

See you soon,

Shoppe Newness

Between moving rooms, then cleaning and decorating, I’ve decided it was time to pay a little attention to my shoppe. It’s funny how digging deep into clutter can inspire you!

(*be sure to get to the bottom of this post for an awesome announcement!)

I had a specific request to make some journals out of non-children’s books. Any ideas on what to call those other than “Adult” books? I can’t go there, I don’t even want to think about the trouble that will cause!

This is one of my favorite things to make, “Surprise Packs”! 70+ pieces of vintage goodness!

I have been making great progress on my new creative space, but there are a few more fun little touches I need to make, and I’ll be sure to share some photos here when I’m finished.

Well, that’s it for now,

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Bye until next time,

Shoppe Newness!

As per usual, I’ve been keeping myself pretty busy. Luckily I have been able to spend a little time making for my shoppe. I will be the first to admit that my shoppe isn’t setting the world on fire, but I’ve managed to sell enough that some replenishment was due.

Here’s a new ephemera pack theme, “Down on the Farm”, full of mid-century children’s books images! (and all ephemera pack international shipping prices are now drastically lowered! Yay!)

You know, I love almost every aspect of running my little shoppe. Putting together themed ephemera packs…

New “Garden” themed Junk Journal Inserts.

…choosing pages and themes for my journals…

Junk Journal insert ephemera pack.

…organizing my shoppe supplies…

Junkity Junk Journals.

…and especially hearing back from folks that love what they have purchased. That totally warms my heart!

I’m happy, off in my little world making away, filling my shoppe with goodies.

My biggest struggle is talking about it!  After days of planning, making, photographing, and listing in my shoppe…I’m kinda over it and ready to  move on! Not a great sales strategy I know, but there you have it!

Let me know if you have any questions about international mailing prices on ephemera packs. Here is a link to my shoppe: PattysArtJournals

So, there you have it, the latest and the greatest.

As always,

Thank You so much for stopping by!

Talk to you soon,
