Well, I Finally Did It!

After much trepidation and angst, I finally made a video for Youtube! The logistics were holding me back, who knew a $10 clamp arm would do the trick. I’m going to be honest here, my olde brain doesn’t navigate technology very easily. So, this was quite an undertaking, but I did it!

Check it out, I even figured out how to put into my blog!

(Please excuse the overuse of “tidbits”, I was a little nervous. I was pleased with everything else about this video and didn’t want to redo the whole thing over one word.)

I’m hoping to do some process videos soon, I have so much to share at this point, it might get a bit out of control!

Meanwhile, I’ll be making more of an effort on this little blog in future, I miss all of you guys a lot!

Until next time,

Thank you for stopping in,

~Patty

Just Checkin’ In

Well, it has been little over a month since I last blogged, it seems like longer! I didn’t announce a break because I didn’t plan one, it just happened.

I thought I would pop in quickly and let you know I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth, or less dramatically, stopped blogging.

With all the whirlwind visits and obligations since the beginning of the year, I just kept falling farther and farther behind on just about everything in my life. So, I decided to drop a few obligations and play catch up…

I’m slowly getting my house in order.

The “Great Weeding Project” is well under way.

I’m in the process of reworking another “List Journal”, a summer theme for this one.

I have managed to fill my shoppe up a little.

And, I try to start my day with some faith journaling.

IMG_1431

I have even managed to get a long awaited project off the launching pad, Project Life. This is a digital version, but I have also taken 35 years of photos out of very old photo albums, organized them chronologically, and started putting them into Project Life albums, Yay! I’ll be sharing more on this soon.

This is my life in a nut shell. It has been a mad scramble trying to get everything done, but well worth it!

I’ve decided that writing on this blog once a week will work for me much better than three times a week, at least for a while just to free up some much needed time.

Thank you for stopping by,

See you in about a week,

Patty

A Faith Journaling Roundup

One of the many projects that I’ve fallen behind in is my faith journaling, but that sure hasn’t slowed me down from purchasing more devotionals! I’ve promised myself I won’t start any new ones until I’ve finish some of my older ones, so… IMG_3913Illustrated Faith has put out some new Print and Pray goodies in their shop, and the colors are just too yummy! I love instant gratification…ehem, downloads!

I started out by scraping some coordinating colors onto the page, stamped an ampersand on with paint, adding “thankful” and “grateful” in gold, writing the scripture down, then embellishing with star stamping and the ephemera. I colored in the stars and some small areas of the pages with colored pencil to pull more color out onto the page.

IMG_3919

The last page spread in this devotional, I love the way it turned out! I was inspired by some scripture I had read that morning. It was fun trying to coordinate all the colors on this one. Of course it looks a little like a hippie bus, but you know that’s how I roll.

IMG_3922

I wanted to do some journaling, so I folded some scrapbook paper in half to write in then embellished it. I LOVE my Tim Holts tiny attacher! I got mine at Joann’s with a 40% off coupon, they’re kinda pricey.

IMG_3920

I started out with paint scrapes of course, used my wood grain stamp to mimic the wood grain in the scrapbook paper, and added pink sunbursts with a Tim Holtz stamp. As you can see, I’m finally throwing perfectionism to the wind with my ink stamping!

IMG_3921

This devotional is officially retired! So many wonderful memories tucked inside it’s pages! Swoon!

IMG_3926

Since I was on a roll, I decided to get my prayer journal out of moth balls. I wanted to do some journaling, so I decorated a tip-in. Not only do they keep your journaling private, it adds a pop of color and another opportunity to play with color. Love!

It feels great to have so many projects caught up. Now I can start some new ones with a clear conscience, and also apply some of the new techniques I’ve practiced along the way, so I’m sure you will be hearing from me soon.

Until then,

Thank you for the visit,

 Have a great weekend,

~Patty

Gratitude Journal Catch Up

I have fallen so far behind on many of my projects lately. So, I decided to stay focused and take them on one at a time. This weekend it was my Gratitude Midori journal.

IMG_3838

I absolutely LOVE my fabric doris, but I have to admit, I love the idea of having one real Midori with genuine inserts. No bling, paperclips, or tabs, super simple.

Just so you know how much work I had ahead of me on this, I had been entering my gratitude lists in, but that is it! No dates, no photos, and no decor since the 4th week in February! Yikes!

But, I was determined to see it through before I called it quits, I really felt this project deserved a chance. And, I’m really glad I did!IMG_3842

The first thing I did was stencil in all the dates. I was dreading this, but it went pretty fast.

IMG_3832

Then, I went through 3 months worth of photos and matched them up to the appropriate weeks. It was a bit daunting, but well worth it!

IMG_3833

Next, I added the washi and journaling. As you can imagine, the steps just became more and more fun as I progressed.

IMG_3840

I learned many things by falling so far behind on this project:

1. I have a lot to be grateful for

2. This project is definitely worth the time

3. Including more photos of family and friends is a must

4. This has become my favorite journal!

Thank you once again for stopping by,

Have a wonderful week,

~Patty

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

Hello! I just thought I would pop in and let you all know that I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth

I am happy to say that these last two months have been filled with lots of visits with family. But, I made a promise to myself that I would put creating aside to spend quality time with them…and I did! The aftermath is that the projects continued to pile up, and now I am scrambling around trying to catch up with them along with my household responsibilities.

I need a vacation from my vacation!

Anyway, I have managed to get a couple of things done, so I thought I would share. If you have seen these photos on IG or FB, I apologize, this is all I’ve got!

IMG_3759I joined Art to the 5th‘s “Documented Life” project, “The Unplanner”. I had been tracking my creative doings in a planner, but it was getting really time consuming to decorate up the planner pages every month. So, when this creative version of documenting my creativity came up, it was a perfect fit. The problem is catching up on five months of projects! I’m getting a pretty good handle on it now, but not much else is getting done.

IMG_3750

These are January’s PAC’s (pocket art cards). They have monthly and weekly challenges. The art tag at the right was a challenge to include writing or doodles from somebody else. I chose to use a page from my mom’s address book, what a wonderful way to create a keepsake, I love it!

The rest are my versions of January’s PAC challenges.

IMG_3790This is what I came up with for the first part of May.

Even though I have managed, once again, to bite of more than I can chew, I am really enjoying learning new techniques. My art making desperately needed a shot in the arm. Not only that, but I am using up a lot of random stuff I have been holding on to for years! Win!

I’ll have a few more things to share soon, it’s just a matter of getting organized.

Thanks again for stopping by,

Talk to you soon

~Patty
