Blondie and Dagwood Art Journal

I have been having such a good time working in this journal lately. Absolutely a labor of love! There is something about adding your own personal touches and words that bring a journal to life.

IMG_9424

This is the same journal I shared about in my last blog post. Isn’t it a great color! I’m not sure what the title has to do with the pack of cute dogs running through the book, but…

IMG_9501

Some great paper ready and waiting for some journaling to happen. I love having lined paper to work on, instant journaling space, and again with the awesome green! Is that vintage playing card a hoot or what? I love the big red guy, but those skirts are to die for!

IMG_9503

I usually try to have some sort of message or quote on pages with no journaling. I decided to just have fun with my ephemera on this one!

IMG_9506

It’s funny, that rabbit is like so many other pieces I shuffle around every week. “Nope, not quite right” until they become like friends finding a home. There seems to be some sort of emergency!

IMG_9509

The black and white ephemera is a great way to calm down an extremely loud back ground! And I personally feel that if I was strapped into one of those girdle contraptions, I would want to kill more than bugs!

I am definitely not one of those people that pine for the “Good olde days”! Girdles, high heels, “Putting your face on” just to go to the market, no thanks! Although, I do miss decent manners, that could make a come back in my book!

Well, that’s about it for now. As usual…

Thank you for stopping by,

Have a fantastic Sunday,

~Patty

Finishing My “Reconstructed” Art Journal

I first wrote about this little art journal back in August. I have managed to get an art journal finished in one month!

That has to be some kind of new record for me!

IMG_8967

I’m thinking it was because I just had fun with it! No expectations, just use up as much randomness as possible! That photo on the right is from a lovely visit I had with my daughter last year.

I love using keepsakes in my journals!

IMG_9028

I have a lot of stuff that has been laying around waiting for a home since last year, that “Grow” sticker for example. I pulled that out of one of my DIY planners at the beginning of the year.

I loved it too much to just toss it!

IMG_9025

Here’s something a bit different for me, no journaling. A quote card that was tucked into the memory board above my desk for the past year. I’m going to use these quote cards more often! Some people may say “What’s the point?”, but I revisit my journals for ideas all the time.

I’ll be seeing that again soon!

IMG_9030

The last page. I have already journaled my way through this journal! I so enjoy decorating the pages when I have the urge to be creative, then having them ready when I have the urge to write!

There are a few more journals I need to get finished up, and that is what my next plan is. I’m getting quite the little library of finished journals!

Thank you once again for your visit,

Have a great rest of your week,

~Patty

Art Journals Going Big!

As I was rifling through my ephemera stash this week, I found lots of gorgeous pieces that I had forgotten completely about. Well, that was because I haven’t been able to use them in the smallish to tiny art journals I am currently working in.

Answer: Go Big…

IMG_8982

This beauty was given to me by my mom a few months ago. I absolutely love the cover, but the images inside are all in sepia, no color! I know, unbelievable! It measures about 12″x 9″, a perfect size for 8 1/2″x 11″ paper.

IMG_8990

Luckily, I have plenty of awesome large, vintage books to pick pages from, along with an abundance of super colorful painted pages I need to use up.

IMG_9666

It’s a great place for all my Flow magazine gratis papers to live. I’m still working on my collage technique with some of these, but I just love them!

IMG_8983

I have a lot of single sided scrapbook paper, and I thought this would be a great way to use some of it up. I purchased some digital downloads from BaersGarten on Etsy, and printed the plain side with lines to journal on. Cuz, sometimes a girl’s gotta write!

IMG_9044

Then there’s this, Our Miss Audrey on a bike! See how awesome it is to have a home for my Flow mag. papers! I’m keeping this page as is, it’s perfect!

IMG_8988

And now I have a place to use some of my awesome children’s book pages without having to cut them down to size! Nice!

I shared a bit of this art journal on IG and have already been getting some feedback about putting some in my shoppe, so that might be happening soon!

As usual, thank you so much for your time,

Have a fab week,

~Patty

Whipping Through This Junk Journal!

There is definitely something to be said about taking the pressure off! When I decided to turn this journal from “list” to “junk”, it became one of the easiest journals I’ve ever worked in. I put up zero expectations, and just had fun!

IMG_8719

I actually had to refill the box of random crazy I keep on my desk because I’m using it up so fast!

IMG_8714

And, I have to say that it has been wonderful to just sit down and play in my journals lately. I’m hoping to be able to catch up on a few things around here so I can play some more!

IMG_8713

Seriously, what’s the use of having a paper addiction if you don’t take the time to have a little fun!?

Thank you for stopping in,

Have a wonderful weekend,

~Patty

Jumping Back Into #ListersGottaList Challenge

First, I turn my August listers journal into an art journal, then I turn my neglected gratitude journal into a listers journal. It sounds like I can’t make up my mind, because I can’t!

IMG_8608

This list had a lot to do with my reluctance. Once this one came up, I lost my enthusiasm…for lots of things. I’ve been torn between feelings of  joy for having had the opportunity to tell my dad how much I love him, and sadness for having to say good bye at the same time.

All the emails with the ups and downs of his condition, along with so many cards I had made him, made this whole project hit a little too close to home.

(that photo of the rose was taken at his hospital, also where I was born)

IMG_8602

For some reason I felt as if giving up on this project was like giving up on moving on, and my dad would have none of that if he knew! So, I decided that it’s time to get back to it, and I mean from the beginning!

IMG_8606

Because I am trying to catch up on three weeks worth of lists, I’ve been working on this steadily all weekend. All I can say is that it has really been a great experience! The list prompts are helping me look for ways to be grateful.

IMG_8614

It also helps to decorate the pages like I do my junk journals. Using random crap out of my catch-all containers.

IMG_8615

I’m almost caught up, about eight pages to go. I’m going to try a new list group next month called 30daysoflists, so I’ll be sharing about that. I’m not sure if I will do listersgottalist too, at this point, I hate to say one way or another because I may change my mind again!

Until next time,

Thank you for the visit,

Have a great week,

~Patty
